The window for the administration of the 2016 Maryland Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA) ended on October 1st.  The assessment is a tool that allows teachers to measure each child’s school readiness and to inform classroom instruction across 4 domains of learning – Social Foundations, Mathematics, Language and Literacy and Physical Well-Being and Motor Development

The KRA provides valuable (vital) information about the readiness of children, giving teachers rich information about children’s skills, abilities and learning needs.  The individual child data guides teachers’ instruction and enables them to address any identified learning gaps of an individual child or groups of children. The KRA is a developmentally appropriate tool that provides teachers, schools, and districts with critical information and informs families about their child’s strengths and areas of need It also offers suggestions for parents to support the development of children’s skills and behaviors at home.

The results of this year’s KRA will be released on November 15th.
